JOPLIN, MO- In the first round of the AMC Tournament, the 6-seeded Harris-Stowe Hornets faced off against the 3-seeded Missouri Baptist Spartans. Despite leading for the majority of the game, MBU came out on top with a 4-3 win.

HSSU got on the board in the top of the 1st inning when Colton Anderson (SO/Imperial, MO) homered over the center field fence for a 1-0 lead.

Leobardo Saldivar Jr. (SR/San Jose, CA) drove in Cole Danielson (JR/Palm Springs, CA) for the Hornets second run after a double to deep right field.

Missouri Baptist gained one of their runs back in the bottom half of the inning after General McArthur scored on an HSSU error and cut their lead to 2-1.

The Hornets got one more runs in the top of the 5th when Kenny Lara (JR/Queens, NY) drew a bases loaded walk and forced PJ Roberts (SR/Watts, CA) home to make it 3-1.

MBU came back two more runs in the bottom half of the 5th when McArthur and Drew Brooks both crossed home plate.

The Spartans took their first lead of the game in 6th when Wayne Roberts scored on a batted ball and made it a 4-3 game.

Harris-Stowe would not be able to connect for another run and would fall in the first round of the AMC Tournament.

Alec Hutt (JR/Las Vegas, NV) got the start today going 6.0 innings with eight strikeouts. Tyler Boles (JR/Clarksville, TN) finished the game going 2.0 inning with no hits allowed.

The Hornets will now face 7-seeded Lindenwood University-Belleville tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m
