FULTON, MO-The Harris-Stowe Baseball Team pulled out a win today over the Owls of William Woods to avoid getting swept. HSSU tallied 12 hits in the 4-2 win.

The Hornets kicked things off in the top of the 1st inning when Leobardo Saldivar Jr. (SR/San Jose, CA) hit a sacrifice hit to deep left-center field to score Eddie McDaniels (JR/Lebanon, TN) for a 1-0 lead.

Cole Danielson (JR/Palm Springs, CA) and Saldivar had back-to-back RBI hits in the top of the 3rd to extend their lead to 3-0.

The final Hornet run came in the top of the 4th when Danielson singled to shallow left-center field and drove Kendall Powell (FR/St. Louis, MO) home for the 4-0 lead.

William Woods came back with runs in the 5th and 7th innings, but were unable to make a comeback to take the sweep of HSSU.

Stephen Wells (JR/Orlando, FL) got the start for game three going 8.0 innings with three strikeouts while Steven Kemp (SR/O'Fallon, Mo) pitched the final inning while recording one strikeout.

After today, Harris-Stowe moves to 29-20 overall and 14-12 in AMC play. They will play in their final conference series next weekend when they host the Lions of Freed-Hardeman University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday at Stars Park.
