SAINT LOUIS, MO- Harris-Stowe State University faced difficult challenges against the Eagles of Williams Baptist College today as they dropped a doubleheader 14-3 and 8-0.


The Eagles plated nine runs on nine hits in the first two innings to take an early lead.

HSSU put themselves on the board in the bottom of the 4th inning when Sophia Chamberlain (JR/Bakersfield, CA) and Daylon Brooks (SO/Las Vegas, Nevada ) both hit RBI singles to drive in Kyrah Johnson (SO/Columbia, Missouri) and Mallory Pappert (SR/Affton, MO).

The Hornets tacked on another run in the bottom of the bottom of the 5th inning when Ariel Lipe (SR/Ellington, Missouri) scored on a sacrifice fly from Pappert. But, it would not be enough to catch WBC as they went on to win 14-3.

Sophia Chamberlain got the start for game one and went 5.0 innings with two strikeouts.


Williams Baptist took control of the second game, limiting the Hornets to just two hits the entire game.

After scoring one run in the top of the 1st inning, the Eagles scored seven more in the top of the 3rd to complete their 8-0 win and sweep of the Hornets.

After today, Harris-Stowe moves to 6-21 overall and 2-18 in AMC play. They will be back in action on Thursday when they host the Lady Lions of Freed-Hardeman University. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
