BELLEVILLE, IL- The Hornets offense struggled today as they faced off against the Lady Lynx of Lindenwood University-Belleville. LUB came away with 8-1 and 9-1 wins.

Lindenwood-Belleville jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Riley Wells cleared the bases with a triple to deep right field that scored Anastasia Villanueva, Katie Deluka, and Lexi Law. Amanda Velasquez grounded out to short right after that and drove Wells home.

Harris-Stowe got one of those runs back in the top of the 3rd inning when Mallory Pappert (SR/Affton, MO) hit a sacrifice fly to right-center field that scored Jacquline Ems (JR/House Spring, Missouri).

That would be the only run that the Hornets would score as LU-B plated three more runs before the end of the game.

Sophia Chamberlain (JR/Bakersfield, CA) started game one and went 6.0 innings while striking out one.

Harris-Stowe struggled again in game two, scoring just one run in the top of the 3rd when Cassidy Williams (JR/Olive Branch, MS) grounded out to shortstop and scored Emily Lavine (SR/St. Louis, Missouri).

LU-B went on to score nine runs in the game including five runs in the bottom of the 4th inning.

Courtney Norris (SR/St. Louis, Missouri) got the start for game two going 4.0 innings.

After today, Harris-Stowe moves to 6-15 for the year and 2-12 in AMC play.  They will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Missouri Baptist University. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
