COLUMBIA, MO- After one of the biggest wins of the year for the Hornets, Harris-Stowe fell to 10th ranked Columbia College 83-58.

Jay'la Davis led all scorers with 20 points on 8-11 shooting. Alantis Sutton (SR/St. Louis, MO) was right behind her with 10 points while LaDaijha Watson (JR/Olive Branch, MS) was the game leader with nine rebounds.

Raegan Wieser led the Cougars with 17 points while Morgan Brandt and Mai Nienhueser both chipped in 12 points.

Columbia jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter after Wieser scored on a lay-up from Ashlee Marlatt.

Davis responded with back-to-back field goals to cut the deficit to 5 points.

Buckets from Kambri Davison (FR/Tulsa, OK) and Unique Conner (JR/Dayton, OH) would cut the score to 11-8. But, the offense of Columbia caught fire and went on a 9-4 run to take a 20-12 lead after the first 10 minutes.

From the start of the second and third quarter were all Columbia College.

They shot a combined 47% from the field and limited the Hornets to just 9 field goals in those 20 minutes.

In the fourth quarter, Harris-Stowe kicked things into high gear; going step-for-step with the Cougars. While their 18 point quarter proved to be their best, the deficit from the first three quarters was too much to make a comeback.

Harris-Stowe will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Hannibal, MO to face off against Hannibal-LaGrange University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
