BATESVILLE, AR- Coming off a tough loss to Central Baptist last night, the Hornets volleyball team looked to get to 1-1 in conference. Despite Miaya Peacock (SR/Champaign, Illinois )'s double-double, the Scots of Lyon College pushed past HSSU to take the game 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 21-25, 22-25).

In the first set, the Hornets and Scots fought back and forth right off the bat, recording 7 lead changes and niether team getting up by more than 5. By the end of the set, HSSU found themelves up 24-19, but Lyon would stage a comeback with 4 errors from Harris-Stowe and kills from Kelley and Ulu to take the first set 26-24.

Miaya Peacock lead the Hornets today with her first double-double of the season (23 kills, 21 digs). Kennedy Netters (SR/Peoria, Illinois ) had herself a game, dishing out a game-high 38 assists. Jhmeka Lambert-Gully and Niya Jenkins (FR/Chicago, IL) bothed picked up 14 digs today while Whitney McDaniel (JR/East St. Louis, Illinois ) was right behind them with 10.

The Hornets came back in the second set with a vengence, Peacock getting 8 of her 23 kills in the 2nd set. 

After trading points the entire set, Lyon lead HSSU 22-21, the Hornets would get three straight kills from Peacock and a kill from Tiffany Hopkins (SO/Chicago, Illinois) to end the 2nd set and tie the game 1-1.

Lyon did not take this well and took the lead at 9-8 with a kill from Kelley and never looked back, winning the third set 25-21.

Now down 2-1 in the match, Harris-Stowe was not going to give up easily. The Hornets recorded 13 kills in the 4th set, but errors were to blame and Lyon took advantage of it. After 15 ties and 5 lead changes, Lyon would end the set and the match with back-to-back kills from Embry and a match-winning kill by Popovic.

The Hornets will continue AMC play next Friday when they host the Eagles of Williams Baptist College. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
