The Harris-Stowe Hornets Baseball team defeated Lindenwood University-Belleville 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon for a midweek American Midwest Conference matchup. The Hornets now improve to 23-13 on the season and 8-8 in AMC play. The Hornets are now a half a game behind LUB for 6th place in the AMC standings while holding the tie breaker winning two of three games this season vs the Lynx.
Sam Simon started for the Hornets allowing 1 run on two walks before being taken out to start the second inning. The Hornets responded in the bottom of the first with two runs after Arsalaan Alvi and PJ Roberts started the game off with back to back hits. Leobardo Saldivar Jr. delivered a key hit up the middle to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead. Senior left handed pitcher Dion Herron entered the game in the top of the second inning and went a career high eight innings. The Hornets were able to pick up their third run of the game in the bottom of the third when Dylan Yankle had a sacrifice fly to score Alvi. Herron would allow only 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 8 Lynx batters.
