Women's Basketball - Thu, Mar. 30, 2017

Following the first back to back winning seasons at Harris-Stowe State University in ten years, Head Women's Basketball Coach Hana Haden was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 list.

The WBCA Thirty Under 30 presented by Marriott Rewards program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches age 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship and impact on others, professional manner, and attitude and professional association involvement.

In Haden's first season at HSSU in 2015-2016, she led the program to an overall record of 19-13. Her team finished tied for fourth in the American Midwest Conference after a preseason ranking of tenth. The Hornets made it to the conference semifinals and put together an eight game winning streak. This was the first winning season for the program since 2007. The 2015-2016 team featured three AMC All-Conference honorees and seven AMC Academic All-Conference recipients. The Hornets were recognized as an NAIA Scholar Team for teams with collective GPAs above a 3.0.

In her second season at the helm (2016-2017), Haden led the team to another 19 wins including victories over tenth ranked Bethel University,  twenty-third ranked Lindenwood-Belleville, and twelfth ranked Columbia College. The Hornets spent much of the season receiving votes for the NAIA Top 25, being mentioned in every poll but one.

The 2016-2017 team finished the season ranked third in NAIA field goal percentage defense, sixth in three point field-goal percentage defense, sixth in scoring defense per game, eleventh in total rebounds per game, twelfth in offensive rebounds per game, and in the top 25 in five other categories. The Hornets' scoring defense and field goal percentage defense was good for second best in the AMC and they were also the league's best offensive rebounding team.

The Hornets leading scorer and rebounder,  Brionna Taylor was recognized as a 2016-2017 All-American: Honorable Mention as well as AMC Second Team All-Conference. Angela Randall, who was the team's leader in steals and assists and second leading scorer, was recognized as AMC Third Team All-Conference. The team also featured five Academic-All Conference recipients.

At Harris-Stowe, Haden also serves as the NAIA Champions of Character Liaison, Advisor to the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and as a part of several other committees and initiatives.
