The Harris-Stowe Softball picked up their first victory of 2017 with a 3-2 walk off victory over the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers in game one of the doubleheader.  The Hornets are now 1-8 on the season.  The Hornets will travel to Hannibal-LaGrange College on Saturday to resume American Midwest Conference play.

Game 1 Won 3-2

Courtney Norris started for the Hornets and only allowed only 1 earned run in seven innings.  She struck out two hitters.  The Hornets trailed 2-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning when Emily Lavine led off the inning with a double.  After two quick Hornet outs Alix Adams was hit by a pitch to bring the go ahead run to the plate.  Senior Nakeyah Bradford came through with a two out triple to tie the game 2-2.  Ariel Lipe then won the game for the Hornets with a double to give the Hornets a 3-2 victory.

Game 2 Lost 9-1

Norris again started for the Hornets but was roughed up in the 3rd inning allowing 3 runs and four more in the fourth.  The Hornets scattered 4 hits including two by Alix Adams.  The Tigers bats were too much for the Hornets to overcome in the second game and fell by the score of 9-1.
