This weekend the Harris-Stowe Baseball team lost 4 games.  They began a 3 game series with Missouri Baptist form American Midwest Conference play.  The Hornets ended the weekend with a game against NCAA II University of Illinois Springfield.  The Hornets are now 17-9 on the season and 5-4 in AMC Play.  Head Coach CJ Bilbrey on the Hornets play this weekend, "Our starters gave us a chance to win the first two games and the ball just didn't bounce our way.  Tyler Schatz and PJ Roberts both swung the bat really well this weekend.  It's a long season and everyone has a rough weekend at some point.  Our guys will be ready to go this week."

 

Game 1 Loss 4-3 in extra innings

Stephen Wells started for the Hornets and pitched into the seventh inning.  He exited with the lead but the bullpen was not able to hold on and the Hornets lost 4-3 in the eighth inning. Dylan Yankle collected 2 hits.

 

Game 2 Loss 4-2

Jordan Dreibelbis started for the Hornets and went 6 innings and allowed only 2 earned runs.  The Hornets had a rough third inning where they left runners on base in the top half of the inning and allowed the Spartans to score 4 runs.  PJ Roberts had three hits with a double and a stolen base.

 

Game 3 Loss 15-3

Steven Kemp started for the Hornets but had to leave in the second inning.  The Spartans pounded out 12 hits and Harris-Stowe allowed 9 walks.  Christian Mitchell pitched 2 and 2/3 innings allowing only 1 run to keep the Hornets in the game until the 7th inning where the bullpen allowed 6 runs.  Tyler Schatz hit his first homerun of the season.

 

Game 4 Loss 9-0

Sam Simon started for the Hornets and was roughed up for 8 runs allowed.  Jake Angelo allowed only 1 run in 3 and 2/3 innings pitched.  He allowed only 1 hit.
