This afternoon first year Head Coach Brian Dunlap and his red hot Harris-Stowe Men's Basketball team won their biggest game of the season.  The Hornets upset the number 17 team in the nation, Park University 70-69 in the American Midwest Conference semifinals.  The victory is the 13 out of the previous 14 for the Hornets.  It also marks the teams first victory over the Pirates who had previously beat the Hornets twice this season.  Harris-Stowe will now travel to William Woods University on Tuesday night for the the AMC Men's Basketball Championship.  The winner will advance to the NAIA National Tournament.

The first half for the Hornets started off well as they were able to get a lead of 10 points with 6:10 left in the half.  The Pirates tied the game back up 31-31 with 1:02 left. Jalen Fletcher was able to get the Hornets the lead and Malik Wineglass was able to hit a shot in the paint with only 1 second remaining to give the Hornets a four point lead going into the locker room.  Wineglass would score 10 of his team high 16 points in the first half.

The second half was mostly controlled by the Hornets and they were able to get the lead back up to 10 when Dwane Miner  hit a shot while being fouled.  After a made free throw the Hornets had their biggest lead of the game.  The Pirates were able to fight back and take a 58-55 lead after a 15-2 run.  Miner was able to get the momentum back with the Hornets as he hit a three point shot to give the Hornets back the lead.  Tyrone Alston hit a two point shot to give the Hornets a three point lead with just 2:32 left in regulation.  Park responded with baskets on back to back trips on offense.  Cameron Biedscheid was fouled with 26 seconds left and was able to drain both free throws to give the Hornets a 70-69 lead.  The Hornets were then able to force a turnover.  After Harris-Stowe missed both free throws the Pirates missed their final shot with just four seconds left in regulation and Alston came down with the rebound to seal a Hornets victory.
