Women's Basketball - Tue, Feb. 28, 2017

Tomorrow night the Harris-Stowe Hornets Women's Basketball team will travel to Columbia College for round one of the American Midwest Conference playoffs.  The Hornets enter the bracket at the #6 seed and will take on the #3 seed Cougars.  Harris-Stowe is 19-11 this season and 15-9 in AMC play.  The Cougars are 25-5 and 19-5 in the AMC and are ranked #11 in the nation in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll.  The two teams split this season with Columbia winning at home 73-65.  Harris-Stowe bounced back to win the second game in the Emerson Performance Center 68-41.

Head Coach Hana Haden knows that her team will have to play their best on Columbia's home court.  "Playing a team like Columbia is always going to be a challenge, especially on their home floor.  They shoot the ball extremely well and are such a well-coached team that we will have to bring our best effort defensively and really execute our game plan to give ourselves an opportunity to win."

Key Hornets:

Brionna Taylor / Senior / Forward

Taylor led the Hornets in both points and rebounds during the regular season. Her 14.7 points per game ranked fifth in the AMC while her 7.3 rebounds were good enough for seventh.

Angela Randall / Senior / Guard

Randall ranked 22nd in the nation with a team high 114 assists.  She was also second on the team with 13.3 points per game while leading the Hornets with 65 steals.

Alantis Sutton / Junior / Guard

The second year Hornet led the team with 53 three pointers made.  She averaged 9.9 points per game while collecting 49 steals.
