This weekend the Harris-Stowe Women's Basketball team defeated the Missouri Baptist Spartans 81-58 in the Emerson Performance Center.  The day was a big one for Head Coach Hana Haden and her five seniors.  The Hornets move to 19-9 and 15-7 in the American Midwest Conference.  The 19 victories matches last seasons total and give the Hornets a chance to reach the 20 win mark for the first time since the 2007-2008 season.   The Hornets are now in a tie for 5th place in the AMC standings.  They trail Lindenwood University Belleville by a game and half with two games remaining for the 4th seed in the AMC Conference Tournament.  The top 4 seeds will host the opening round of the tournament. 

In the first quarter the Hornets scored the first 7 points of the game as senior Angela Randall and junior Asia Green got the team rolling.  At the end of the quarter the Hornets had a 20-10 lead.  In the second quarter Green scored 10 points and had 16 at halftime.  The Hornets had a 49-25 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter the Spartans come out of the locker room on a 5-0 run before the Hornets responded with a Brionna Taylor basket.  The Hornets took a 25 point lead into the fourth quarter.  In the fourth the Hornets traded baskets with the Spartans and two HSSU seniors had big quarters with Maronda Evans and Randall hitting several shots.
