Men's Basketball - Mon, Feb. 6, 2017

Tonight the Harris-Stowe Hornets Men's Basketball team held on to win their sixth game in a row.  The Hornets beat the Lyon College Scots 57-52 to improve to 11-11 and 9-7 in the American Midwest Conference.  The Scots drop to 11-12 and 6-9 in the AMC.

The first half was led by the Hornets from the 32 second mark until the teams went to the locker rooms.  Despite leading the whole half the Hornets only had a 27-25 lead.  Jalen Fletcher had 9 points and Evans Ganapamo had 7.  In the second half Hornets got up as much as 9 but the Scots came back to take the lead 43-41.  In the closing minutes the Hornets were clinging to a 50-49 lead when freshman Tyrone Alston stripped the ball from the Lyon guard as he was trying to bring the ball back up court.  He was fouled as he went for the layup.  After he hit one of two from the free throw line the Hornets defense locked down and hele the Scots to only one shot made from the field in the final 1:50.  Tyrone Alston would end the game with 18 points and 6 rebounds and 3 steals.  Fletcher would finish with 15 points.
