Women's Basketball - Thu, Jan. 26, 2017

Tonight the Harris-Stowe Hornets Women's Basketball team defeated #12 Columbia College at home in the Emerson Performance Center.  Head Coach Hana Haden on her teams effort, "Tonight we did a really good job of executing our game plan which was mostly centered around defending the three point line.  I was really happy with our focus to defend shooters and then play together on the other end.  Brionna Taylor and Angela Randall were huge for us.  Now we have to refocus for a big game on Saturday. "The Hornets move to 14-6 and 10-4 in the American Midwest Conference.   The Cougars drop to 17-4 and 11-4 in the AMC.

In the first quarter Angela Randall came out on fire with 8 points.  Randall put the Hornets up with 6:08 left in the first quarter and the Hornets never trailed again.  They entered the locker room at halftime up 29-21.  In the third quarter the Hornets defense took over and allowed the Cougars to score only 5 point to take a 20 point lead into the fourth quarter.  In the final quarter the Hornets continued to hit shots and ended the game with a 68-41 victory.  Alantis Sutton hit 3 three point shots.  Brionna Taylor led the Hornets with 20 points with Angela Randall chipping in with 18.
