Tonight the Harris-Stowe Hornets Men's Basketball team opened their American Midwest Conference schedule at home against Freed-Hardeman University.   The Hornets came out strong to start the game and held the lead at halftime before the Lions came back in the second half to steal a victory from Harris-Stowe.  The loss puts the Hornets at 2-3 on the season and the Lions improve to 2-1 on the season. 

The first half was back and forth battle between the Lions and the Hornets until HSSU went on a run to take a 6 point lead with a little more than 2 minutes left.  The Lions cut the lead to 3 at halftime.  Jalen Fletcher and Julian Clarkson both had strong first half's with 9 points each.

The Hornets held the lead until the six minutes into the half when the Lions took a 36-35 lead.  Fletcher made a shot in the paint to tie the game back up at 43-43.  The Lions responded and never looked back to take the game 66-57.  Fletcher was the leading scorer with 17 points and Tyrone Alston  chipped in 12 points.

  • Julian Clarkson tied a career high with 3 steals
