Men's Basketball - Thu, Nov. 3, 2016

Harris-Stowe Hornets Men's Basketball beat LeMoyne-Owen College tonight 84-71.  The victory puts the Hornets at 2-0 on the season.  Head Coach Brion Dunlap was pleased with his team.  "Once again I'm very proud of our guys.  We are finding ways to win and we are getting better in the process. All the guys who played stepped up." 

The Hornets got off to a fast start and led at halftime 44-37.  Jalen Fletcher scored 15 of his team high 24 points in the first half.  The Hornets had four players reach double figure in points tonight with Fletcher having 24.  Tyrone Alston had 15 points and picked up 8 rebounds.   Michael Gregg had 11 points and was 5-6 from the free throw line.  Malik Wineglass had his second consecutive double-double as he went for 10 points and had 10 boards. 

The second half saw more Hornets scoring and they put the Magicians away down the stretch.  The Hornets outscored LOC in both half's and outplayed them on defense.  The Hornets outrebounded the Magicians 51-34 and hit 10 more free throws. 


Game Notes:

  • Next game is Friday, November 11th.  They will play #20 Lindsey Wilson in the Lou Cunningham Classic hosted by Campbellsville University.
  • Hornets next home game will be November 17th against American Midwest Conference opponent Freed-Hardeman University.
  • Jalen Fletcher has 49 points in the first two contests
