Men's Soccer - Fri, Oct. 28, 2016

The Harris-Stowe Hornets Men's Soccer team honored six senior yesterday as they played their final game on the campus of 2016.   Lawrence Prograis, Andrew Priestley, Mozart Garcia, Jr., Gabriel Santos, Thomas Carapaica and Youssef Abedo Jacon all got to say goodbye to the fans of the Hornets.

Head Coach Scott Hartwig on his seniors, "The seniors have been fantastic players for the Hornets Men's soccer team over the past few years. Mozart Garcia has so much passion for the game and respect from his peers, he has been a great team Captain. Thomas Carapacia commits full blooded into every challenge and tackle. I have not seen such a hard-nosed defender in a long time. Gabriel Santos works tirelessly, tries to carry the whole midfield in some games. He wants to play every minute of every game. Lawrence Prograis is another guys who if fully committed to the sport and the team, and you can see that in the way he plays each and every game. He is a great guy off the field, well respected by his team, peers faculty and staff. Youseff Jacon has been amazing this season on and off the field, balancing soccer commitments with an internship and final classes before graduation and leading the team with a 3.81 gpa. Another great guy and a great teammate. Finally, I can say enough about four year player and starter, as well as team Captain Andrew Priestly. He has been a loyal servant for the team, adopting any role thrown at him. He led the team scoring last, while this season he played all over the field from defense, midfield and forward and doing well wherever he has played. His academics mimic his playing, with a stong 3.3 gpa going into his final semester and May graduation."

The game didn't turn out the way that the team wanted and fell by the score of 4-0.  The Hornets trailed early and were behind 2-0 at halftime.  Coming out after halftime the Owls scored two more goals despite  Bryndan Lightfoot making several key stops.
