Today the Harris-Stowe Hornets Women's Soccer held Senior Day to honor six seniors.    Tais Barbosa, Dominique Tedesco, Megan Wilson, Briana Garza, Hanna Schiffhauer, and Colbee Miller all said goodbye today to the Harris-Stowe fans by playing their final home game in a Hornets uniform.  Coach Scot Vorwold will miss his seniors, "We got to honor six fantastic student athletes today. These seniors have all been a huge part of this team for the past 2-4 years."

The game was a physical battle between the two teams and the game finished 0-0 after two overtimes.  There was 24 total fouls with each team receiving a yellow card.  Kayla York had the two best scoring opportunities with two blast with one being a diving stop by the Owls goalie.  Jenna Vitale made 4 saves. "The team played extremely well today. We battled for 110 minutes today. Although we didn't get the result we wanted I thought the team played really well. With one game left on the schedule against a quality team we are going to have to play our best to get a positive result and make a push for a playoff spot."

  • Hornets next game is Saturday at Lindenwood-Belleville.  3pm start. 2600 West Main Street - Belleville, Illinois 62226
  • Today's shutout was Jenna Vitale's 7th shutout of the season
  • Hornets are now tied for 6th place in the AMC standings.  A victory or a Hannibal-LaGrange loss will put the Hornets in the playoffs next week.
