The Harris-Stowe Hornets Volleyball team beat the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics in five sets to move their record to 5-15 on the season.  The loss drops STLCOP to 1-17.  The Hornets took care of business in the first set by winning in extras 26-24.  STLCOP took the next two sets 25-18 and 25-22.  The Hornets played hard and hung on to win set number four 25-22 before dominating the fifth and decisive set 15-3. 

Tonight the Hornets will host #6 ranked team in the nation Park University Pirates.  Game time is set for 7pm in the Emerson Performance Center.  The Hornets have won 2 in a row for the second time this season and are 4-4 on home court.  The Pirates are 27-1 on the season and 9-0 in American Midwest Conference play.   

 

Key Hornets:

Miaya Peacock / Junior / Outside Hitter

Peacock has had a very successful first season as a Hornet.  She leads the team with 219 kills.  Her 3.48 kills per set ranks 4th in the American Midwest Conference. 

Kennedy Netters / Junior / Setter

Netters leads the Hornets with 358 assists.  She had an AMC season single game high of 60 assists vs STLCOP earlier in the season.

Tiffany Hopkins / Freshman / Middle Hitter

Hopkins is second on the team with 44 blocks.  She also has helped contribute 51 kills, including 6 in the final set in a victory over Crowley Ridge.

 

Key Pirates:

Sabrina Silva/ Senior/ Outside Hitter

Silva leads the Pirates with 227 kills.  The senior has 558 career kills and was 2015 honorable mention AMC.

Danna Gomes/ Sophomore / Setter

The 201 AMC Freshman of the year has already accumulated 1021 assists this season.  She also has 164 digs and 30 blocks.

Salma Shahtout/ Sophomore / Middle Blocker

Shahtout leads the Pirates with 85 blocks and is second on the team with 209 points.

  • Game time is 7pm in the Emerson Performance Center
  • Hornets are 4-4 at home this season
  • Shamekia McDowell ranks 6th in the AMC with 0.8 blocks per set
