The Harris-Stowe Hornets Volleyball team controlled the tempo early and often as they won all three sets vs Blackburn College.  The victory is 2 in a row for the Hornets and moves their 2017 record to 2-6.  The loss puts the Beavers at 1-5.  Coach T'Shon Young on tonight's victory, "the girls played in sync with a very high energy level."

In the first set the game was a back and forth battle with 6 lead changes.  The momentum shifted as junior Miaya Peacock delivered one of the nights biggest kills to make the score 17-17.  She had 5 kills in the set and 10 kills on the night.  The Hornets won 25-22.

In set number two Kennedy Netters served 7 straight points for the Hornets.  Shamekia McDowell had one of her best sets of the fall when she delivered 4 kills and 2 blocks.  She finished the Beavers off by serving an ace to give the Hornets for a 25-13 victory. 

Set number three came down to the wire but the Hornets overcame a late Beavers rally to win 25-22.

  • Hornets have won 6 consecutive matches
  • Shamekia McDowell and Miaya Peacock both had 10 kills
