The Harris-Stowe Hornets Volleyball team traveled across midtown to take on Fontbonne University but came up just short.  The Hornets lost 3 straight sets 25-16, 25-21, 25-21.

In the first set the Hornets got down early trailing 5-1 but hung around until Fontbonne scored 10 straight to make the set 20-10 before falling 25-16.  In set number two the Hornets were leading 9-6 before the Griffins scored 6 of the next 7 points to lead 12-10.  The Griffins extended their lead 22-16 but the Hornets comeback fell short 25-21.  The third set seen another early Harris-Stowe lead go away halfway through the set.  The Griffins who were down 10-8 reclaimed the lead and never looked back.

Several Hornets had good nights despite the final score.  Miaya Peacock had 8 kills as well as 9 digs and 9 points.  Kiarra Herron also contributed 8 kills.  Despite coming up short Head Coach T'Shon Young seen improvement, "The team played better than in the previous tournament. I see a lot of improvement.  We did a much better job going after the ball and minimizing mistakes but struggled with serving.  We lost two of the sets by only 4 points but we had 5 serving errors in one, and 9 in the other.  It makes a difference."
