SAINT LOUIS, MO- Looking for their first win of the season, Harris-Stowe felt confident going up against the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University. Their late game comeback fell just short and dropped the match by a final score of 2-1.
HSSU and MBU were neck and neck in the first half, neither team able to find the back of the net. Hornet goalkeeper, John Jancewicz (SO/London, England), being a major contributor of keeping the game scoreless in the first 90 minutes as he recorded five of his seven saves in the opening half.
Missouri Baptist was the first on the board in the second half when Jona Oesterling netted a penalty kick in the 58'. Just three minutes later, Cullen Barr gave the Spartans a 2-0 lead.
Romando Thomas (SO/Spanish Town, Jamica ) ended the scoreless streak for the Hornets when he got a pass from Adrian Diaz Alvarez (JR/Madrid, Spain) and headed it home to cut HSSU's deficit to just one. Harris-Stowe would not be able to connect for another goal in the final seven minutes and MoBap would go on to win 2-1.
