SAINT LOUIS, MO- The Hornets took a tough loss in their conference opening match against Freed-Hardeman University. Harris-Stowe moved to 0-4 for the season after today's 3-1 loss.
Things looked bright for HSSU to start the game; Daniel Barera (FR) netted the first goal of the game just seven minutes into play after a free kick from Sergio Pomajambo (SR/Lima, Peru). The Hornets held their 1-0 lead until the 44' when Andrij Sawczuk dribbled past a Hornet defender and the goalie to get an open net.
The offense of FHU could not be stopped in the second half as Daniel Guthrie and Jose Andrada both found the back of the net for the Lions second and third goals.
As a team, Harris-Stowe sent 15 shots towards FHU, eight of those being on-goal.
Starting goalkeeper, John Jancewicz (SO/London, England) saved four today to bring his season total to 22.
Harris-Stowe will be back in action next Wednesday when they travel to Parkville, MO to face off against the Pirates of Park University. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
